I have been an artist all my life, painting and drawing as long as I can remember. I grew up in the Chicago area but, thanks to my parents, I was able to explore the wonders of nature all throughout Canada and the US as we traveled for family vacations. To pass the time in the car, my mother gave us sketchbooks to record what we saw.
I earned a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Calvin University in Michigan in 1983 where my specialty was found object sculpture. I later returned to university to study nursing and became an RN in 2010 and currently work as a mental health nurse. I tried watercolours for the first time during the days of COVID 19 isolation and fell in love with this versatile yet difficult medium. I have since branched out and my portfolio contains ink, coloured pencil, acrylic, oil as well as pastel paintings.
My greatest inspiration has always been nature and I am drawn to the beauty found around us in everyday life. I love art that tells stories.
