The Martian Metalsmith was created in 2023 by Marianna Lewis, a Jamaican metalsmith, jewellery designer, and contemporary artist. As a child, Marianna whose nickname is Mar, would pretend that Mars was her planet and attempted to convince people that she was a Martian. Keeping with this playful memory, the Martian decided to name her business The Martian Metalsmith.
