Deborah Wybou - Ceramic Artist
Deborah Wybou graduated with an MBA (2004) from the University of
New Brunswick (Fredericton) and received a Fine Craft: Ceramics
Diploma (2016) from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.
Deborah is an entrepreneur and has owned businesses in many fields.
Her jewellery business Antithesis Designs developed while working
on her MBA thesis. Deborah has also been the Executive Director of the
New Brunswick Multi-Cultural Council, the President of the Crafts NB
and a board member of the New Brunswick Crafts Foundation.
I am a person who truly believes in life-long learning. From my
earliest memories as a small child, I learned to knit and sew from
people around me. Learning and making is part of the fabric of my life.
When I started creating jewellery as a way to de-stress from writing
my MBA thesis, I was reunited with my desire to make. Producing
jewellery brought together my entrepreneurial spirit and my passion
of working with my hands to create beautiful things. Deciding to pursue
a career in the visual arts, and moving away from Jewellery, I studied
ceramics at NBCCD and love experimenting with texture and variations
of colour in the medium. Ceramics offers me the opportunity to
express the artist within me.
